From switching to fashion from finance, creating art-inspired designs and embracing environmentalism, Charmee Ambavat’s story is an eclectic mix of ideologies. She launched her brand Terra Tribe in 2020. Think of the term “terra,” and you immediately imagine warm, earthy tones: a colour palette of browns, greens and whites. That is exactly what the brand embodies. It is a celebration of disregarded colours, sustainability and all things earthy.
She strongly believes that what makes a brand unique and authentic is the personal touch the designer infuses it with. In Ambavat’s case, her love for jackets is apparent in her collections which feature a bunch of them alongside garments in similar cuts like the shirt dresses, thin trenches and summer jackets. The military details on the clothes like the patch pockets, belts and worker pants are also a personal detail, all influenced by her admiration for vintage clothing. Terra Tribe currently has one store in Goa’s Assagaon. It retails other sustainable brands along with Ambavat’s own garment collection.
Charmee Ambavat works with a colour palette that has been long disregarded in the annals of fashion: the many shades of brown, green and white.
