In a multi-stage process, the artisans break down bones. They process it, clean it, bleach it and break it down into the kind of chips being filed here.
A bone chip artisanal pot being given a final polish; The artisans are extremely skilled in pasting the bones together to make various artisanal products out of them; The Moonlight factory.
At the Moonlight Factory, the bones and the horns go through several stages of cleaning and processing. Here, bones are being boiled till they are white enough; Horns seen here have been cleaned and processed to some degree. They are also used to make bangles, earrings and musical instruments.

Photo frames in the making: artisans here are pasting bone chips to the border of a frame; The artisans make raw buttons by the millions and they get shipped to China, where they are finished. In summers the buttons are smaller, and in winters they make big ones for blazers and the like; Sometimes, the bone is laid over the bone chip and a little bit of resin. There’s a ply base to the vessel.

Bones: the raw material. These bones have been cleaned somewhat already. Sarai Tarin is a basti in UP where lots of people work on bones. They run these units in their home, in rented spaces in the town, or in factories.
